People just assume I’m Tunisian – the Irishman at Club World Cup

As the only Irishman in attendance at the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar, Conor O’Sullivan has found himself constantly mistaken for a Tunisian.

“It’s funny because I’ve never even been to Tunisia,” O’Sullivan says with a laugh. “But I guess my dark hair and complexion give off that impression.”

Despite the case of mistaken identity, O’Sullivan has embraced the experience and has enjoyed immersing himself in the unique culture of Qatar.

“It’s been a fascinating journey so far,” O’Sullivan reflects. “From trying new foods to exploring the vibrant city of Doha, I’ve been welcomed with open arms.”

As a passionate football fan, O’Sullivan couldn’t pass up the opportunity to witness some of the world’s best teams compete for glory.

“Being here and watching the matches live has been a dream come true,” O’Sullivan exclaims. “The level of talent on display is truly inspiring.”

Despite being mistaken for a different nationality, O’Sullivan has made countless new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.

“I may not look like your typical Irishman, but I’m proud of my heritage and grateful for this unforgettable experience at the Club World Cup,” O’Sullivan concludes.
